Letter of Introduction

  • Address to each coach by name
  • Express interest in academic & athletic program
  • Attach athletic resume
  • Include complete address & phone number
  • Note current year in high school so coach can watch

    • List all honors & accomplishments
    • Point out improvements if grades are not great
    • List training of any kind

    • Club, volunteer & community activities
    • Significant things: offices held, hours worked, honors, accomplishments, etc.
  • Athletics
    • All sports participated in – give dates & positions
    • Events entered, honors won, recognition received
    • Team, conference, district, & state
    • Times, averages, distances when applicable
  • Academic & Athletic References
    • Ask before listing a reference
    • Tell them you are contacting colleges
  • Academic Interests in College
    • What you plan to study in college
  • Athletic Intentions
    • If you intend to compete in more than one sport – do you have a 1st choice?

Recommendation Letter

  • Ask your coach out of season if possible

Video Tape

  • List jersey #, name, address & phone
  • Approximately ten minutes of highlights
  • Two to three game portions of at least 15 minutes (i.e. a quarter or half)
  • Make a master & make all copies off of the master
